District Collector Ms.G.Priyanka IAS inaugurated the Reading Day celebration of the District Public Library.The program, presided over by Secretary Mr. T.R. Ajayan. When writer and Vice Chairman of Chittoor Thattamangalam Municipal Council, Mr. M. Sivakumar, read aloud Kadaltheerath, the entire audience joined in the grief of Vellayiyappan in the story. Dr. P.R. Jayaseelan delivered a speech. He said that reading can fill the mind with humanity in the way it needs to be filled, and that we should not become human beings who carry dung. Mrs. Jyothibai Pariyadath and Mr. R. Shanthakumaran Master spoke. The program discussed the contemporary importance of reading in a packed audience at the District Public Library Seminar Hall.The program, which began with a poem by Mrs. K.R. Indu, was welcomed by Prof. K. Mohandas and thanked by Mr. Murali S. Kumar. 60 students of Mount Seena Public School, Pathiripala visited the Palakkad District Public Library on the occasion of Reading Day.

The District Collector, Chittoor AEO Rakhi S., Headmaster C. Dinakaran, and Vadakarapathy Panchayat President Shri Josey Brito D. participated in the Inspire Wednesday program held at GLPS Kozhipara. During the event, the District Collector interacted with the students. She asked them about their goals, made them aware of the dangers of using mobile phones, and made them understand the importance of reading books. Floral tributes were paid to the Gandhi statue and the District Collector felicitated the students who achieved excellent results in the L.S.S. Examination and distributed trophies. As part of the June 5 Environment Day celebrations, a sapling planting ceremony and the release of the Academic Master Plan were held.The district administration is implementing this project in collaboration with the Palakkad District Public Library, the State Education Department, and the State Bank of India. As part of the incentive, books sponsored by the State Bank of India were distributed to the students.

Writer Mrs. Jisa Jose was speaking at the Meet the Author program organized by Mathrubhumi Books in collaboration with the Palakkad District Public Library, saying that women writers are important in the modern era and in a male dominated society. She said that women writing is a revolution and that writing is not easy. Even if you are a writer, it is important to read. But she added that she doubts whether adults and children are reading today. In response to the readers questions, she said that there should be discussions while reading. Sri.T.K.Sankaranarayanan presided the function. Mrs. O. M. Leena led the discussion. Writers Mr. Vaisakhan, Mr. Mohandas Srikrishnapuram spoke.
